| Our Garden!We spent, as a family, about 4 hours working on our garden Saturday. I thought I had better get some pictures since this might be the best it looks for the next month or so! Also all the lettuce will probably go bitter and go to seed in the next few weeks, so the garden won't look as full then...
This is the garden section from last year. There are three long rows now.
Lydia's fence house (you'll see better pics of it later) has sugar snap peas (YUM) and beans on it and there is a strawberry patch on the left of it too. You can also see the compost and leaf bin that is actually on the new plot way back there as well.
Left Row: Chard, spinach, romaine, green leaf lettuce, tomatoes, celery (front to back)

Squash hills are behind the leaf bin there. I tried sweet potatoes in that long strip with holes, but I don't think it was warm enough for them. I'll probably try them or regular potatoes there next year. Fence of more sugar snap peas and beyond that is broccoli, corn, and pumpkins.
Here's the broccoli. We started with 16 and really only have 8-10 that are producing anything... I've already harvested some from a few of them.
Here are the corn and pumpkins put together. Under the row cover are a few potato plants and 2 sweet potatoes that sprouted in our house. The bugs are getting everyone elses, so I thought I'd better cover ours! Also, as we were reading Farmer Boy this spring, we noticed that Almanzo's family planted pumpkin in between their corn. I wasn't sure why, and then someone I know gave shared this amazing site: http://blog.gardenharvestsupply.com/2009/06/22/natural-pest-control/ And we read that these prickly pumpkins may help keep raccoons away from our corn! Here's to hoping!
There's a little patch of garlic at the end of this last pic, but it wasn't going to show up well, so I skipped it!
