  • A Little Walk

Memaw took a little walk with Lydia behind our cabin.

Papa and Mommy getting back from a walk and trying to catch up with Memaw and Lydia:

In years past, you couldn’t have taken these pictures (from the porch of our cabin) because of the number of trees.  Unfortunately, a pine beetle has destroyed many of the trees in this area.  We all missed the beautiful trees and the soughing (learned that word from Papa!) wind through the pines, but we were also able to appreciate the view of the mountains more and the blue, blue sky.

Here we are, down by Riverbend, remembering that there use to be a circle drive.  And last time were in CO, there were 7-8 trees in the middle of the circle.  Now there are none.

There are so many little pines and aspens starting now and the wildflowers are more vibrant than we have ever seen them.  And from our cabin we were able to see more of the mountains and skyline than we had before.  So, even though we miss the trees, there is still so much to enjoy and be thankful to see!

  • A Pontoon Ride!

    Lydia looking around:

    Sisters:

    A cute Katie!

    A lovely Memaw:

Not sure what those gals are looking at!

    Crazy Ellie!

Hey Dad!  See those sailboats?  How ’bout you go bowling and see how many you can knock down?  (Papa being taunted by his shortest offspring.)

    Most of the crew:

And here is what I think is now my favorite mountain.  I need to make that my screen saver!

  • Hiking

Papa informed all the grandkids that if they were quiet, we might actually see some wildlife.  I wasn’t too hopeful, since we were going out in the middle of the afternoon.  But, the kids were rewarded for their efforts!  A Mama Moose and some offspring and the mule deer in the 2nd picture!  It was very exciting!

  • June was Dairy Month (Part 2)

We got another small tour of the farm.  Here are where the cows live!

One of the horses that gave us a ride!

Visiting the goats.  Is this the one that tried to eat Lydia’s hat last year?

Touring the fire truck with Daddy and ambulance with Mommy:

    And visiting the baby chicks:

We also enjoyed a yummy breakfast, learned a lot about our Dairy State and got to sample cheese and ice cream!  A lovely way to spend a Saturday!

  • June was Dairy Month! (Part 1)

Do you see how behind I am!

Getting a ride into the Dairy Farm from the parking lot.  A bit cool and a slight drizzle, but still fun!

Getting cow spots painted on her face!

A little tractor pull!  They actually unhitched it from the load because Lydia wasn’t able to get it going very well!

    Our little flower girl:

Daddy and Daughter. (I was so thankful she wore those boots that morning!) And a group shot.

Lydia commenting on the brown eggs a kind neighbor gave us that she saw in the fridge while putting something away!
